If you are going to be doing either Search Engine Optimization or some type of Internet Marketing with a client it makes a lot of sense to start them out with a Baseline. They have to know what type of traffic they are currently getting and where it is coming from in order to see if the work you are doing for them has a good Return on Investment (also known as ROI). I use a free tool called Google Analytics to do this. I sign up my client under my account and place the code on their Website or Blog. Then I can run a report for them every week or month that we are working together to show how much there site traffic has increased from the various tasks I have completed for them. It also allows you to create a goal to see if they are getting visitors to take an action on their site, such as to sign up for a newsletter or visit a certain page. Let me show you how to use it.
