How to Get a Video on a Blog without a Plugin
By Michelle Schoen |Wow, I haven’t posted in a while. Had a busy summer with the kids. So I figured I’d start out with a tutorial. Tutorials always take me longer than simple blog posts so this is to make up for all the time I was so slack. This tutorial will show you how to get a video onto your WordPress blog if you do not have a plugin or an html editor (like Dreamweaver or FrontPage). It can be a little frustrating trying to figure this out on your own because it seems nothing you do with get that video to show up. This is just a simple trick to get it on there in a hurry.

Hi Michelle,
This is an interesting demo – but I really wonder why anyone would not want to get a Plug-In instead, because it seems like it is more work this way, to remember to turn it off and on in your Profile, etc.
What would be the advantage of not looking for a Plug-in and using that on an ongoing basis?
Would there be circumstances where this method is better?
I appreciate the education you provide!
Thanks
Diana
Diana,
This method worked best for me, because, I was asked to add the video to my client’s site but I am not her Webmaster and did not want to add plugins to the blog. You don’t have to permanently remove the visual editor, only if you need to go back into that specific page/post and change or add something. If you are just putting up a quick video on a blog post this is probably the simplest way as you are unlikely to go back and keep making changes to that post. Thank you for your comment.

Thanks, Michelle, for responding so quickly!
Totally makes sense – now I understand!
