As I write this I am right in the middle of teaching a Camtasia Training Class with my buddy Lon Naylor of Screencast Profits. When we planned the class we intended to focus solely on the technical aspects of learning Camtasia 6.0 with a session on setting goals for your video and some scripting strategies. Along the way we have gotten some good questions on what to include in a typical Marketing video.

People in the class want to know how to structure a marketing videos and what points need to be covered. As my expertise is more in the realm of creating video tutorials and training classes I had to do a little research after the class. We did however start a nice discussion on what points the class thought need to be in a basic Marketing imagevideo, even if it only last 5 minutes. I found a nice outline of what items should be covered in a typical Ebook and it think it will be very handy also when you are putting together a marketing video for the video sharing sites such as YouTube or  an opt-in or Salespage.

1. Define your customer’s problem in their own words

2. Agitate the ways in which not solving this problem immediately can hurt them (turn up the pain in order to motivate them to take solution oriented action)

3. List all the things to beware of when they’re looking for a solution (disqualifying your competitors in the process)

4. List the ways in which you’ve been able to provide those solutions in your business (which gives you an opportunity to provide social proof)

5. Destroy the myths and misconceptions that people have about your product or service (subtly answering their objections in the process)

6. Offer them an incentive to let you help them solve that problem and build in a strong call to action

7. Show how you have already helped other people just like them by including lots of testimonials throughout

If you decide you’d like to create a marketing video and if you can outline the script for the narration part of the video, I can help you do the visuals, music and editing in order to get you a nice video for your product or service. Or, if you want to do all the creative work yourself why not sign up in the form on the right to be sure to be alerted when the Camtasia self study course or next instructor-led live course will be available. Camtasia is my software of choice for creating any type of video for a Website.
