If you find yourself trying to be everything to all your clients it may be time to step back and make some decisions about where your VA business is going. I happen to have chosen just two areas to be really good at: Creating and recording Webinars and creating and training on screencast demos (esp. Camtasia).  Those are the only service I offer. Yes, I CAN do shopping carts and PPC and blog/Website creation and many other things that Internet Marketing VAs learn along the way but I don’t choose to offer those skills to clients. I have chosen an area that very few VAs offer so I get a lot of work and have become known as the Go To person for just those specific areas. That makes it a lot easier to market myself and organize my time. And I don’t have constant learning curves that I can’t charge my clients for.

So take some time and decide if you have a specific area of Internet Marketing that you really love then become the “Shopping Cart Queen” oops taken- or the “Ezine Queen” oops taken again- Or the ” Blog Girl”- that one might still be available. Better hurry!

We talk about what copywriting is, her process and how she charges, and why Internet Entrepreneurs should hire a copywriter. I know this is one area that I would choose to outsource because I know how extremely important the copy is in getting viewers and sales. By the way, I’ll be putting Allison’s interview on YouTube and she can track how many visits she gets to her Website as a result of this video. One thing I need to work around is that Youtube only accepts short videos so I can only put up an excerpt of it with a link to my site to see the full video. But that is good because people really interested can come visit my site too. That makes this not only a fun way to meet someone new but a great way to get more traffic.  I think I’ll be doing more of these!

From the viewers prospective if you don’t care about using a crappy demonstration video why would your attitude when you provide your services be any different.  If you, as a Virtual Assistant, are providing a quality service then tell the world about it with videos but do it right.  By just implementing a few production details, you can create high quality web videos.

My friend Lon Naylor, a former Microsoft Techie, has begun a crusade to rid the web of crappy videos.   He found the most typical issues that are responsible for this plague are:

 Horrible audio quality
 A lack of planning
 An ineffective delivery of the sales message
 BORING presentations!
 No Call to Action
 Missed opportunities for “branding”

I always record my audio separately using Audio Acrobat.  Some people will get a pretty decent sound from the recording device on a free conference line. I just like the convenience of having all my audio files in the same place and not on my hard drive. After you have mixed the audio and video together you can start to edit the file to take out extra noises, entrance chimes and those first few minutes of small talk before the Webinar begins.

Of course, Adwords costs money but if it is bringing in more business (I’ll talk about how to measure ROI in another post) it is usually worth it. In this demo I will show you how I set up a Google Adwords campaign for one of my clients and how much additional business is brought to his Website. But- be careful, if Adwords is not done correctly it can cost your client A LOT of money and bring them very little additional revenue. You need to make the time to really study Adwords before you start offering this as one of your Virtual Assistant Services.

The Squidoo idea is simple and easy to explain: allow anyone to build a single page, called a lens, on a topic that he or she is passionate about. SO, I get it.  I am passionate about creating Camtasia videos and helping other VAs build their businesses. Perhaps that should be my Squidoo lens. Duh, so I made one.  Well I started to. You’re going to LOVE this video which details the development and the features of these animated Virtual Assistants. It is hard for me to believe that they can really carry on conversations with their clients like real people (and in a sexy Russian accent) but it seems they have these amazing voice recognition abilities. I wonder if these things can be trained to write. Perhaps I will consider outsourcing some of my blog posts to one of them. Just a test really.

On a side note, though, I think I will not let my husband see this video as I am slightly concerned he may get some weird ideas. Sort of “Stepford Wives” kind of thoughts. The only thing he would not like in the video, though, is when the hot VA tells her client to “clean the kitchen himself”.
